Ottawa (January 28, 2009) - The Green Budget Coalition caucuses, comprising 20 of Canada’s leading environmental and conservation organizations, today released its response to the 2009 federal budget. Nature Caucus Members of the Green Budget Coalition (GBC) are deeply disappointed about the lack of new commitments to protect nature in the 2009 Federal budget, and its failure to capitalize on this opportunity to move Canada toward a green economy. The GBC submitted budgetary recommendations for much needed funds for ocean conservation, protecting ecologically sensitive land and waterscapes from industrial activity, conserving biodiversity in national parks, national wildlife areas, marine protected areas and migratory bird sanctuaries, and protecting migratory birds. Each of these areas has been completely ignored in this budget.
