Rolly Montpellier's Biography.
He has an Honours B.A. in political science, sociology and urban & regional planning from Laurentian University and the University of Waterloo. He has also done post-graduate studies at the University of Toronto. In 2003 Rolly retired from his job as the superintendent of Business and Finance (CFO) with a French-language School Board (Conseil du Nouvel-Ontario). He previously worked for the Sudbury District Roman Catholic School Board in business and management positions. He was a school board trustee for five years during which time he served as Board Chairperson. In Sudbury he served as chair of the Laurentian Hospital Board, as a member of the new Sudbury Regional Hospital Board and as a member of the United Way Campaign Cabinet. He is presently a consultant/advisor with School Boards Cooperative Inc. All his life Rolly has been involved in his community, sitting on many committees and boards dealing with the education and health needs of local people. His community and work experience have contributed to his leadership and management abilities. Already politically aware, Rolly became active as soon as he retired. He served as area coordinator for a mayoralty candidate in the 2003 municipal elections and area coordinator and chief financial officer for the Liberal candidate also in 2003 during the provincial elections. In recent years Rolly has become increasingly aware of the serious environmental problems facing our communities, our province and indeed mankind. “With awareness comes responsibility” says Rolly. As he continued to search for answers, he became interested in the Green Party and became a member in 2006. Rolly joined the Green Party because of its comprehensive and integrated approach to economic, environmental, health and social challenges and also because the Green Party’s first priority is the world we will leave for our children and our grandchildren. |
